                                 If I am not wrong this is the second Goa for every Indian. The city which is also known as "Puducherry" is located at the east costal area of India (Tamil Nadu). Pondicherry was the baby city born under the Portuguese and Dutch then it was adopted by India. Portuguese and Dutch had started their business as Textile trading and hereinafter Pondicherry had became "Place of Roman Trades". This city name also comes from the term "Puduca" means "The Marketplace" in roman and further it become the Pondicherry.



French Colony

              Beyond the sand beaches there is the second face of Pondicherry and that is great French based Colony. Narrow road, elegant colonial mansions, colorful houses with French Door & shutter windows and numerous café with French cuisine. Thus, it is also called as French Quarter of India. Accommodation in this colony is much cheaper in comparison of other places of Pondicherry.  Here are some of the best charming cafés of French Colony that you must try during your visit. Aurobindo Ashram

           "While travelling you should not run all day long" that is my point of view while on trip. So in crowdy places / cities, I used to find places for sitting in peace for a while. In Pondicherry, this place was Aurobindo Ashram which was founded by Sri Aurobindo and Mira Alfassa (Mother of the Aurubindo). This is the place for peoples who are looking for spiritual enlightenment. Uniqueness about this place is that people from all religion comes here and stay together &  worship their religion at times. Here, you can also get handmade arts made of natural waste (like Dhoops, Agarbattis, Perfumes, Crafts, etc). The visiting time to Ashram is from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day.

·        Rock Beach is famous for its beautiful red Sunrise, so have some French breakfast at nearest cafes with memorable clicks. 

·        Paradise Beach is known as the cleanest beach in city. Boating, Water Adventures, Surfing can be done on this beach.

·        Auroville Beach is clear water beach where mostly people use to collect the seashells as memories to bring their home.

·       Mahe Beach is quite far from city with the soft sand here you can do fishing and spend your quality time. Nowadays pre-wedding shoots, series and songs shoot are captured here.


Which is the best mode to travel?

By Air way-  Bangalore and Chennai are the closest airports and you can easily get train or bus from these cities.

By Train route- So Pondicherry having its own station inside city. Catch the train from your
closest location

By Road ways- Chennai-Bangalore highway is best highway to reach @ Pondicherry.
