Maharashtra is a state in India that is famous for its attractive mountain places and attractions, and when the monsoon arrives, the beauty here increases further. I am a travel lover and I have prepared a list based on my experiences of visiting Maharashtra in monsoon in which I have chosen the top 5 destinations that will encourage you to visit Maharashtra in monsoon.


1) Matheran Hill Station

Matheran is a major hill station in Maharashtra which is especially beautiful during monsoon. The dense forests, abundant clouds and vast expanses of green here give the experience. Enjoy the swings, churches, and refreshment options of Matheran and make your monsoon trip memorable.


2) Malshej Ghat

Malshej Ghat also known as the mountain pass towards Sahyadri. It is a classic storehouse of clouds during the monsoon season. The high ravines and Chimanrai Park here provide you a unique opportunity to relax amidst natural beauty. Malshej Ghat is also famous for its natural car wash point.


3) Kalsubai Peak

Kalsubai Peak is the highest mountain in Maharashtra situated at height of 1646 metre above sea level. It is popular as a trekking destination during the monsoon season. From here you get an unobstructed view of the entire Maharashtra, with unparalleled views of the surrounding villages and hill stations. Also, it is best to do camping at night.


4) Korigad Fort

Korigad Fort is located near Lonavala, Pune. This makes it an ideal summer getaway in monsoon. It has historical importance and the lush green views around the fort are heart touching. It do have camping sites for night trekkers. Even night trekking in summer at Korigad gives nice experience.


5) Lonavala

Lonavala, along the Mumbai-Pune Highway, is a uniquely beautiful place in monsoon. Enjoy the refreshments here and let the song 'Khoobsurat Lonavala', featured in one of the most famous songs of Indian cinema, touch your heart. Lonavala itself is centre for several forts, caves and seeing sights. Also, don't forget to taste its famous "Lonavala Chikki".
